The July meeting will be at 7:00 pm on the 16th at the University of Tennessee Space institute, room H111.

About The Program

 

  The July program will be presented by one of our carvers, Harry May. Harry will discuss the technical aspects of carving, from start to the finished product. He will also demonstrate the various techniques used in carving work.

Announcements

 The TVW club extends sympathy to the family of John Mayberry. John was a long time member of TVW, joining in 1988. His funeral was held on Tuesday, July 9th.

  TVW NEWS AND NOTES   

ANNUAL TVW PICNIC

           

                             

The annual TVW picnic and auction, was held on June 22 at Falls Mill. The event was well attended and was a great success. Everyone attending
had lots of food, a good time and wonderful fellowship with fellow club members.
The auction, a major fundraiser for the club, brought in a total of $910.
Thanks to John & Janie Lovett for hosting the picnic at their lovely location.

“SHOP TOUR” SEASON IS OPEN

       

  It is now officially “Shop Tour” season. Clean up your shop because your shop may be on the next tour.
The next shop tour is set for July 27th and will be a tour of Walter Clement’s antique shop in Belvidere. Details will be given at the July monthly meeting.

The best thing about the tours is the fact that everyone always picks up some ideas to apply in their own shop.

TVW EXPOSITION

The time is fast approaching!!! Start those projects you want to display in the exposition. The date for the 2013 TVW Exposition is September 8 – 15. The location will be at the University of the South, Sewanee, TN. Dan Maher is the Chairperson for the event. He will be asking for help as the event date draws closer. Please give him your support when he asks.
There will be additional information presented at the monthly meetings concerning the upcoming event.

  CARVER'S CORNER 

The carvers normally meet on the first Saturday of each month the Phil Bishop’s shop. They work on individual or group projects. Anyone interested in carving is welcome to attend these monthly meetings.

  FLUTE CIRCLE NEWS

The July flute circle is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30th. The location is to be determined. Contact Ron Reimers @ 931-308-5196 or ronreimers @hotmail.com for RSVP and location.

  FALL SEMINAR COMING:

       

  A fall seminar is being planned for Oct. 19. The presenters will be Ron Young and Scott Tinker. Location - Tom Cowan's Cowan Artisan store in Cowan. Details will be given as the seminar content is developed.

  TVW FORUM

 The forum is booming with “expert” solutions to your woodworking problems and great advice.
You would absolutely be amazed at the wealth of knowledge that your fellow members have to offer!

  Don’t forget about the tremendous resources we have in the library. If you have not tried our digital library in 2013, you are missing a great opportunity to learn new techniques and brush up on old ones.

Please remember that you can now view some of the club DVDs on line. Go to the library listing on our club website and click on the underlined titles.
