I'm having a senior moment. I'm almost sure someone posted this, but I can't find it and didn't want to lose it.

I decided to follow this approach to avoid the wiggle problems I've had with my old sled. I haven't done a ring yet because I just finished it this morning, but I saw Doyle's similar sled yesterday and looked at some of his rings and decided I needed to do this.

One of the things pointed out in the video was that the reference angle templates were cut on the CNC machine, so I did one for 15 degrees [12 segments] and another for 10 degrees [18 segments]. It took about 10 minutes to design the double template run, and less than 30 minutes to set up and run on the CNC.

If they're as precise as I expect the CNC to be, the segments should fit. We'll see. I'll post the results.

Yes that is a great looking sled Loyd and should work well.

While I was checking out the sled, I also saw this rig for gluing the segmented rings together. A novel approach, I thought.
