I've built one of these. I used 1/4" fingers and it works very well. You can make fingers in any multiple of 1/4" or even vary the finger width - some 1/4" and some 1/2". I don't know why I'm drawn finger joints, or rather the jigs. I've probably made more finger joint jigs than I have boxes or drawers that employ them.
