Battery operated chain saw

Postby henry » Thu Jun 20, 2019 8:41 pm

I'm needing a new chain saw. Since I don't plan to ever fall any more trees or cut firewood I was thinking about an battery operated chain saw. I know to not bother with the cheap ones, maybe a medium to high price one. Does anyone have experience with a battery operated chain saw that could give me a few pointers ?

I once had a corded electric chainsaw that worked OK for most stuff. I gave it away for some reason that escapes me at the moment. It lacked guts but was OK for small stuff like rounding bowl blanks once they were cut out of the log. It was useless for most outside stuff since the cord length was limiting -- not an issue with a cordless one. I wonder about the guts issue though.

Never tried one but have a corded electric cheap Harbor freight chainsaw to use in the shop. Not great but it works.
