Numbering

Postby loyd » Sun Jun 15, 2014 10:22 am

I wonder how many forum followers number their turnings. I just finished a standard, no frills, bowl. It is #360 and comes from a greenwood maple turning roughed out last year some time and finish turned a few months ago. I just got around to putting lacquer on it yesterday and today. Didn't turn out very good but a bowl is a bowl none-the-less isn't it. It's 9 1/4 dia x 6 1/4 tall.

Let's pose a question in a poll. How many of us number our turnings? And how many sign them?

I sign and date not only my turnings but every thing I made in my ship. My advice to all new turners and new woodworkers is to sign and date (and number if you like) all your work no matter how bad you thing it might be.

I always sign all of my "creations". I have thought of investing in a larger pen, so that everyone can see that I have signed the items. ;)

And here I thought all these years that those were just tiny little gum deposits in tiny little grain voids.
