TENNESSEE VALLEY WOODWORKERS        JULY, 1991

SPLINTERS

YES, NO DOUBT, SUMMER IS WITH US.. .THE CORN IS AS HIGH AS AN

ELEPHANT’S EYE AND WE’LL BE STRIP MINING TOMATOES ANY DAY NOW.

My “AMAZING FLEXIBLE GRINDING DISK” .... WITH IT ‘S LIFETIME

GUARANTEE... IS JUST ABOUT WORN OUT FROM SHARPENING LAWNMOWER

BLADES. IT FRIGHTENS ME TO PONDER THE MEANING OF THIS... HAVE I

BEEN DUPED AGAIN BY ANOTHER SLICK SALESMAN?... HAVE I FAILED TO

READ AND UNDERSTAND THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (“THE BIG PRINT

GIVETH AND THE FINE PRINT TAKETH AWAY”)?.. .OR PERHAPS THERE IS

SOME OTHER IMPLICATION REGARDING THE LIFETIME OF MY LAWNMOWER OR

JUST THE BLADE. MAYBE I’LL JUST HAVE TO “BACKUP” DISK INCLUDED

WITH EACH AND EVERY “LIFETIME “ DISK AND PONDER ALL OF THIS

TOMORROW.
