TENNESSEE VALLEY WOODWORKERS         SEPT 1989

SPLINTERS

FALL HAS FALLEN

WELL HERE WE ARE INTO SEPTEMBER ALREADY. I’M NEVER QUITE SURE HOW

THIS TIME OF YEAR IS BEST DESCRIBED. IS “LATE SUMMER” A MORE

FITTING DESCRIPTION THAN “EARLY FALL”?? IN ANY CASE IT’S THAT

TIME OF YEAR WHEN THOSE SUMMERTIME CHORES BEGIN TO FADE AND AN

OLD MAN’S THOUGHTS TURN TO THE SHOP. GONE ARE THOUGHTS OF LAWN MOWING AND GARDENING. STRONG ARE THOUGHTS OF WALNUT AND CHERRY; TURNING AND SANDING:            PROJECTS STARTED AND PROJECTS PROMISED.

OTHER SIGNS OF FALL INCLUDE:  LARGER ATTENDANCE AT OUR TENNESSEE VALLEY WOODWORKERS MEETINGS. THAT IS NOT TO SAY WE’VE HAD LOW ATTENDANCE THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. THERE’S NOTHING LIKE A PICNIC

TO BRING OUT THE MEMBERSHIP. I HAVEN’T EATTEN SINCE THEN, I’M

ABOUT TO GET HUNGRY AGAIN. WE USUALLY SEE SOME NEW FACES IN THE

FALL.

BRING A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR OR ACQUAINTANCE OR EVEN A COMPLETE STRANGER TO THE NEXT MEETING.ONE OF THE STRENGTHS OF OUR GROUP HAS BEEN NEW PEOPLE WITH NEW SKILLS TO SHARE OR NEW QUESTIONS TO ASK.SPOUSES, SONS, DAUGHTERS, COUSINS, AUNTS UNCLES OR OTHER ASSORTED KIN ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.
