March just Marches on... I believe the approach of Spring momentarily accelerates the passage of time. The few extra minutes of daylight serves as a temptation to squeeze out a few extra hours each day. Before you know it ,“The Ides of March” have passed by without a single celebration. Pm not quite sure what the accepted practice is for observing “The Ides”. While we are on the subject of dates, let’s all remember.. .Next Tuesday

NOTES FROM FEBRUARY
We were 35 strong and happy to see some old friends back among our midst. We had a special guest, Gina Buckley, who requested that the Tennessee Valley Woodworkers design and make trophies for the High on the Hog Barbeque to be held this summer. A pork barrel committee was appointed to come up with a design. The members were Bill Moye, Tom Cowan, Henry Davis, and Richard Gulley. I understand they have already met and will have a report at our next meeting.
Our Show and Tell was outstanding. Rick Duncan brought some furniture products magazines, Bill Knight had some gorgeous band saw boxes. Bill Chew finished a bowl from the last John Jordan seminar. John Troxler some clamps, Jim Van Cleeve his router table and a footstool that took 43 years to make. Tom Gillard had a fine looking candle holder, and Winfield Bannet carved a cedar feather of intricate details. Richard Gulley made a fine and unique baby rattle. By the way folks. Richard is still carrying that lathe around in his pocket. Sometimes there is so much going on during Show and Tell that I might overlook someone. Keep bringing stuff, we’ll get your name in print yet.
Our evening ended with a “Whole lotte smokin’ going on”. Bill Moye not only presented a fine program on woodburning, but also informed everyone on how to get started inexpensively. Looks like plenty of rainy nights could be spend burning over the old wood board. Thanks again, Bill.
I appreciate folks calling in and letting us know what’s happening with our members. We’re so spread out that the newsletter helps us stay in touch. Recently we’ve heard that Bill Knight, Chuck Williams, and O’Neal Gibson have been ill or in the hospital. Hurry back soon.

THINGS FROM THE TWILIGHT ZONE
A couple of weeks ago Susan and I were looking at some rodeo horses at the Civic Center in Huntsville. Somehow we stumbled into a museum and either a weird furniture show was being held or it was one of those sculpture exhibits. This man had made some most unusual furniture. It had legs that looked like asparagus stalks. He had bleached maple and the work was excellent. Very different.
LOOKS AT BOOKS
Not bad for starters... last meeting we got started on our club book exchange. Several members brought in books of interest to others. I ended up borrowing “The Router Handbook” from Richard Gulley. Thus far, I’ve picked up some interesting tricks but am not sure - that I would go out and buy. the book. Please participate, bring a book good—or—bad. We all know that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
