January 27, 2014 Executive Committee Meeting
The Executive Committee Meeting was called to order at 3:40 PM by TVW Club
President Karen Browning at the home of Vince and Anita Zaccardi. Those in

Future Programs:
Several program topics were submitted by the membership at the January meeting.
Those topics and several ideas were reviewed and discussed. A listing of the
potential programs/presenters is as follows:

Appalachian Dulcimer Building – Flem Smith, Murfreesboro

Pole Lathe Turning (outdoor demo) – TVW member Stan McKinnon, Murfreesboro

Tool Sharpening – David Sapp, Woodcraft, Franklin

Muzzle Loading Gun Building – John Anderson, Tullahoma
Exposition 2014: –
The upcoming event continues to be presented and discussed extensively at
monthly club meetings, and the pertinent dates, times, item registration, work
sign-up information, etc., has been posted on the club website and has also been
mass-emailed directly to the membership. The sale of exposition items was
discussed. It was the consensus that personal cards with contact information but
without prices could be placed by displayed items and/or “Commissions Accepted”
could be included by individual’s names in the guide book.

Shop Tours-
Member participation disappointing in 2013. Need to schedule farther ahead and
publicize more. Set regular time, e.g., next Saturday following monthly meeting.
Mini-Workshops-
Consensus that participation in shop tours might be better if mini-workshops
were included, similar to Peppermill Turning, Vacuum Glue-up, and Veneer Slicing
demos in past years. Other suggested subjects included:

Segmented Turning – Loyd
·
Longworth Chucks – Doyle
·
Hand Scraper Sharpening – Henry
Workshop topic discussions at meetings and polling member interest with a
checklist with blank spaces for entering “other” additional topics might be
useful.
Next Executive Committee Meeting
– May was targeted for the midyear meeting. It was noted that October 2015 marks
the 30th anniversary of the club, and the agenda should include a
celebration event discussion.
Member Roster
– Treasurer, Bob Addington has made numerous attempts to encourage members to
pay their club dues. He has removed names of all known deceased persons, and has
requested guidelines for purging non-paying folks from the roster. A following
motion was made, discussed, and passed:
“Those members who have not paid club dues for 2014 by the regular March meeting
date will be purged from the roster.”
