TENNESSEE VALLEY WOODWORKERS

                                               EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING   7-29-19

 

Attendees: Karen Browning, Carl Blumenthal, Vince Zaccardi, Joe Ferraro, Paul Jalbert, Chuck Taylor, Richard Gulley, Loyd Ackerman, Mickey Knowles, Larry Wendland

 

Meeting called to order by President Karen Browning at 3:20pm.

 

Discussion of using power point or notes for meeting agenda. Decided to continue with notes system.

Suggestion to add next month’s program to notes agenda.

 

Talked about possible future programs. Maybe getting a photographer, CNC instructor from Woodcraft,

or person to present program on making Christmas ornaments.

 

Richard Gulley suggested we look at making a spreadsheet to help members inventory shop which could be used for insurance purposes. He will contact an agent to find out what they say is needed.

         

Karen asked for input on fall seminar and feeling is late to put together. Discussion on possible workshop on how to sell your projects.

 

The committee put together a nominating committee for upcoming election of officers. The committee will consist of Vince Zaccardi, Karen Browning, Carl Blumenthal, Ken Jordan, Doyle McConnell,

Will ask members for nominations.

 

Karen brought up that Paul Jalbert is working on a page in the manual to detail treasurer's duties. Discussion that each office have a page in the manual to better define responsibilities and it was agreed that Richard Gulley will coordinate and bring together the inputs from current officers for the manual.  Loyd suggested that the content of the manual be put on web site.

 

At this time, it was decided to continue policy of asking guest not to join at the first meeting they attend but at next meeting they attend as some join and don't come back.

 

Committee discussed notification of members of upcoming monthly meetings. An e-mail will be sent to all prior to meeting day.

 

Club will no longer participate in Coffee County Fair.

 

Vince told committee Hands on Science Birthday Fair is August 17th.

 

He will find out date for Partners for Healing which is coming up.

 

Tims Ford Heritage Days will now be 2 days Oct 12th and 13th and members can sell products with no vendor fees.

 

Carl asked about getting young people involved with woodworking. Joe suggested to bring up at meeting for ideas from members.

 

Christmas party Dec 14th. Karen explained that there were suggestions to change the time to earlier in the day. Committee approved starting party at 1p.m. It will be pot luck and will continue with optional gift exchange.

 

The committee discussed the club picnic and auction. Will revisit whether to continue the picnic at a date closer to time usually held. The committee decided to move the auction to the regular monthly August meeting starting in 2020 in place of that month's show and tell.
