Minutes of the March 18, 2014 TVW General meeting


The meeting was called to order at about 7 PM by President, Karen Browning, in the UTSI auditorium because H111 was being used for health screening.  There was a slight delay in convening due to Audio Visual issues centered on the meeting place and regular order of business was modified to suit the circumstances.

·        Shop Tours – Doyle McConnell asked whether there would be hardships if shop tours were conducted on weekdays.  Mixed response but not generally negative.

·        Exhibition Report – Loyd Ackerman gave a report on the 2014 Exhibition and thanked everyone involved.

·        A report on the situation with Phil Bishop was that he isn’t improving and will be going home this week.  Dick Wollam made an announcement that help was needed to do some work at Phil’s home.

·        Bob Addington gave a report on his stroke and thanked everyone for their support.  He is looking forward to his recovery.

·        Dick Wollam announced that they are seeking a new place for the carvers to meet.

The program for the evening was presented by Pete Miller.  He covered an introduction to Pyrography (wood burning art) from the early beginnings up to selection and use of tools.  Several examples were shown and a discussion of how to use and apply patterns for the artwork.
