Monthly Meeting


The meeting was held in the Duck River Electric meeting room in Dechard, TN.

President Loyd Ackerman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm Tuesday July 18, 2006.

There were 70 members and guests present.


Welcome to visitors; Jim Cunningham, Jesse Tenpenny, George Bowers and new member; Bill Ward

 He recognized Ross Roepke for being named Volunteer of the year in Tullahoma.

Schedule of events;

Shop tours July 29, meet 8:00 at Simply Southern restaurant in Pelham for breakfast and tour of Matt Brothers, David Jacobs and Collins Roan’s shops.

Coffee County Fair, Sept. 17 Doyle McConnell.

Fall seminar, November 4 at Forrest Mill Church of Christ with Andy Rae cost $45.00 early and $50.00 after October 31.

Jim Van Cleave said the water cooler does not work and the club should look into providing a new one to Duck River. Noted for Executive Committee action.


A drawing was held for items left by presenter at last meeting and a table saw table given by Woodline.

Newt Wright – Carving of an American Flag

Tom Gillard – Photographs of a carving Dick Wollam did for the boy scouts. He gave Dick recognition for his work. The carving is hung in the boy scout headquarters in Nashville.

Lewis Bryant – Four turned bowls

Chuck Taylor – Turned box and bowl

Dave White – Band saw box and sanding attachments used to make it

Ken Gould – Carving tool box

Ross Roepke – Demonstration of joinery for easy disassembly of furniture

                         Announced that he has curly maple for sale

Doyle McConnell – Turned vase with threaded lid and threading tools

Deacon Taylor – Photos of cabinets

Maurice Ryan – Announcement about Ryobe radial arm saw defect and how to get compensation for it. This is a very dangerous defect. The saws should not be used.


Program: Loyd Ackerman gave an excellent program about wood. Where to get it, how to store it and prepare it for use.
